Intimate Wedding Venues in Ireland @ Temple House, Co. Sligo
Small Wedding
Weddings can be a little different and no less special.
We have always enjoyed hosting intimate weddings at Temple House. We have over 20 years of experience in making small weddings special and memorable, with a real personal touch. Your guest list might be 10, 20, 30 or something like 50 maybe.
Privacy and Safety
There are 10 rooms in the big house and a further 4 in our optional cottage, sleeping up to 28 on the estate. Hopefully that will be enough for your family and bridal party. Imagine being able to come down for breakfast half made up in your silk pyjamas - it is just your nearest and dearest after all. You'll appreciate the privacy the day after too.
Ceremony
You will choose what sort of
ceremony you would like.
If it is part of your plan, your civil ceremony has to be held Monday-Friday; usually about 3pm so that it runs nicely into the reception timings. We like to hold the ceremonies in the terraced gardens or, if the weather is unkind, in the Gallery which has a wonderful skylight. Alternatively, a humanist ceremony can also be held on a Saturday. There are also lovely churches in the area.
Open Space - indoor and out
The rooms in Temple House are enormous but there is a real sense in intimacy too. That's because it is a family home and you have the opportunity to put your mark on the place, with as much or a little decoration as you like. The interiors are beautiful already.
Cocktail Hour
The initial reception with bubbly and canapés is held in the vestibule, morning room and sometimes in a sunny garden. We have plenty of space. You'll enjoy your photos now too. We like to have the speeches in the vestibule off the grand staircase or from beside the fireplace if your guests need to be seated. Either way the photos are lovely. You can then relax and enjoy the meal!
Dinner
Our philosophy is that it should be cooked fresh, look good and taste great. ~100 euro from canapés to late supper. www.templehouse.ie/weddings/food-drink
Drinks
We look after the drinks.
Bubbly: ~44 euro for a lovely dry Prosecco, 59+ for champagne, or perhaps some cocktails. Allow about a third of a bottle per person.
Wine: ~30 euro for a French house wine. Allow about half a bottle per person.
We can also arrange a bar or an honesty bar depending on your final numbers. If table service is required by regulations that is fine too.
Music
The musician(s) from your ceremony might play for your cocktail hour too if you like that idea. We have space for some music and dancing later too if that is what you'd like. A couple of options for you consider.
Flexibility
It is important to note that we have the flexibility to adapt our reception rooms to suit the sort of party that you will enjoy. Please come and see how.

Virtual Tour
This is a great way to explore the place together. Roderick loves to take you around on video call. No mask required! It is much more interactive than a phone call too. Be sure to ask for one when you contact us.

"After a disappointing start to 2020 (having to postpone our large wedding abroad), we came across Temple House Estate. From the get-go Roderick, the host, was so organised and laid back about everything. On first viewing, we got an extensive tour of his home and he very simply put forward many ideas for our big day- we didn't need to look further for the perfect wedding venue. Temple House, is a venue like no other. Initially having invited 100+ to our big day, this was narrowed down to under 25 people which could not have suited Temple House more. The guests arrived and were all wowed by the surroundings and even more by the grand house, Christmas decorations and their rooms. With a small number, we were able to spend the perfect few days all together under one roof. Roderick and the staff could not have done any more, taking a very 'there but not there' approach, making it feel like it was our personal venue but with someone always there to top up a glass or help out if needed. All guests were completely wowed with the term 'unbelievable' floating about a lot! The food was amazing!
Temple House, Roderick and the staff (Lorraine notably) were amazing from day one and even with Covid 19 restrictions in place, we were able to have the best wedding we could have imagined! Many family and friends have already spoken of a return visit! To sum up; -amazing food, with a huge selection to cater for everyone. Wine and spirits all top quality. -amazing grounds -amazing bedrooms- clean, comfy beds with views of lake and ruins -amazing staff- they knew the guests by name by the end of the wedding 10/10 would recommend or do it all over again!"

"Thank you to Roderick, Lorraine and team in Temple House for making our wedding day perfect. When we saw Temple House and its beautiful surroundings we knew we wanted our wedding to be there. On first meeting Roderick we felt like he had safety as his top priority in light of Covid-19. Planning our day, it was difficult to picture how it would flow with social distancing, masks etc. The Temple House team made sure every safety measure and precaution was taken and everyone felt safe and enjoyed the day. The day itself flowed seamlessly, from getting ready in the morning, then our arrival back after the ceremony to enjoy the celebration. We had so many menu options to choose from for the canapé reception to the main meal itself, each one unique and something to suit every palate. The food did not disappoint, everyone enjoyed it from children to adults."
